Interior Health has issued a drug alert for the Kamloops area.
The health authority is warning about a grey powder being sold as “Down” that contains a higher than average concentration of fentanyl and fentanyl analogues as well as high amounts of benzodiazepines.
“[There is a] high risk of overdose, a high risk of fatal overdose,” Interior Health said, noting the effects can be long-lasting.
“[Other symptoms include] amnesia, sleepiness, or nodding out for a long time.”
This drug alert will be in effect for a week until October 19.
