Kamloops RCMP say their Crime Reduction Unit seized about 1.6 kilograms suspected illegal drugs during a Saturday night traffic stop on the North Shore.
Police say a member of the specialized unit began investigating a suspicious black Mitsubishi on the East Trans Canada Highway around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.
Mounties say that vehicle was later spotted in the area of 8th Street and Fortune Drive, where police say the driver was found breaking traffic laws, though they did not specify.
“While conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, the officer became aware that the driver was wanted on an endorsed warrant and arrested him,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said.
“A search of the vehicle that followed located a large amount of cash, drugs, and a conductive energy device.”
Evelyn says the vehicle was towed as police found a number of “unsafe deficiencies” after they pulled it over.
The driver, who was not identified, was released on scene as part of the investigation.
Police say people with information that may be related to this incident should contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-41909.
