The Everett Silvertips scored early and often as they blew out a new look Kamloops Blazers 8-2 at Sandman Centre Friday night.
It was the first game following the WHL Trade Deadline, which saw the Blazers trade veteran forwards Dylan Sydor, Shea Van Olm, and Connor Levis as they continue to rebuild for the future.
Dominik Rymon (2), Carter Bear, Eric Jamieson, and Caden Brown scored first period goals for Everett who led 5-1 after one period. Ashton Ferster scored the Blazers lone goal of the period to make it 1-1 before the Silvertips took over.

Those cheers were short-lived as Ben Hemmerling rounded out the scoring 40 seconds later to improve Everett’s record to 25-14-1-2, good for fourth in the Western Conference.
Dylan Ernst – who was chased from the Blazers net after allowing five goals on 17 shots in the first period – picked up the loss. Jesse Sanche stopped 21 of 24 shots he faced in relief.
Tyler Palmer turned aside 14 of the 16 shots he faced to pick up the win.
Newcomers Cole Wadsworth and Blake Swetlikoff – acquired in the Van Olm and Sydor trades respectively – were both held scoreless in their Blazers debut.
The Blazers – who have lost five in a row – drop to 9-25-3-2 on the season, and sit in last place in the WHL.
The two teams will head to Everett for a rematch on Saturday, the first of six games on the road for the Blazers.
Their next home game is scheduled for Jan. 27, when the Kelowna Rockets come to town.
