There is also a travel advisory in effect on the Hope to Merritt section of the Coquihalla, because of blowing snow and heavy accumulations.
Environment Canada has issued winter storm warnings for the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt, the Trans-Canada between Eagle and Rogers Pass, and Highway 3 between Creston and Grand Forks via the Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass.
“A strong Pacific frontal system is pushing through the BC Interior and snowfall associated with the system will continue into Thursday,” Environment Canada said in its warning. “In addition, gusty southwest winds will develop today and persist into Thursday.”
“Snowfall amounts will vary along the routes due to elevation but totals of 25 to 40 cm can be expected.”
It has also issued snowfall warnings for Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton and the Yellowhead Highway between Tête Jaune Cache and the Alberta border.
“A frontal system will move across the central BC Interior today through Thursday morning giving 10 to 20 cm of snow to the Yellowhead and Yellowhead Highway regions,” Environment Canada added.
Snowfall warnings have also been issued for parts of the North Thompson Valley, with between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow expected to fall today.
