Kamloops RCMP say two local men are facing a number of charges related to Wednesday afternoon’s weapons report that led to a large police presence on the North Shore.
Police say Austin Alexander Neil Eyres, 27, and Kenneth Robert Hockley, 26, are each charged with one count of assault with a weapon, robbery with a firearm, and possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000.
They say Eyres is facing additional charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm, failure to comply with a release order, pointing a firearm, and prohibited driving, while Hockley is also charged with possession of ammunition while prohibited.
Wednesday’s incident began around 12:30 p.m., when officers were called to an address on the 1700-block of Parkcrest Avenue.
“Multiple police units responded and following a strategic approach which lasted for almost two hours, located and arrested two suspects,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley said in a statement Friday.
“On Feb. 29, both men appeared for a bail hearing and were remanded into custody.”
Pelley previously said that both men are known to police, and that the “primary suspect” was known to have a history of violence and was wanted on an unendorsed warrant related to a previous robbery in Kamloops.
The two men are scheduled to be back in court on March 13.
People who may have information related to the investigation are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-5974.
