Police in Merritt are on the lookout for a man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint this afternoon.
Mounties say they were called to Bob’s Mini Mart at 2801 Clapperton Avenue around 1:45 p.m. this afternoon.
“The risk to the public remains unknown at this time, however it appears targeted towards carrying out a robbery, and not the general public,” BC RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said, in a statement.
The suspect is a white man with facial hair, standing between five-foot-eight to five-foot-nine. He also had a large tattoo on his right arm that was possibly depicting a wave pattern.
Police say the man is associated with a small two-door Fiat 500.
“Officers are actively searching for the suspect and the vehicle,” Grandy added. “Police are releasing footage of both the suspect and the vehicle used, and ask the public to call 911 should they observe either.”
“Frontline officers are actively working at identifying and locating the suspect, and are hoping a member of the public may spot either the vehicle or suspect”
People with information about the suspect or the vehicle in question are being told call 911.
