RCMP say a 32-year-old woman was arrested after a report of shots fired in the Chu Chua area Sunday night led to a large police presence, and an order for people to shelter in place.
In a statement this morning, RCMP say officers from the Barriere detachment were called to the area of Dunn Lake Road on the Simpcw First Nation, near Barriere around 8:15 p.m. Sunday night.
RCMP say the order for residents to shelter in place was put in place to allow officers to manage the situation as both the Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the police dog team were called in to help.
“Collaborative efforts led to the arrest of a 32-year-old female who allegedly was discharging a firearm carelessly in a residential area within Chu Chua,” Barriere RCMP Commander Cpl. Kyle Camalush said.
RCMP say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
