Kamloops RCMP say they’re working with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the identity and cause of death after the body of a man was found in the Thompson River on Sunday, June 23.
Police say they were called to the 1700-block of Clifford Avenue near McArthur Island around 7:10 a.m. that morning, for a report of what appeared to be a person in the water near a dock.
“Based on what was observed during the initial police attendance, the person appeared to have been in the water for sometime,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said.
“We are still working to confirm the person’s identity and notify his next of kin.”
Both the RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the discovery.
Mounties say people with information they think may be helpful should contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-19632.
