Overlanders Bridge seen from the west of the span
Kamloops RCMP have confirmed that a 23-year-old man is presumed to have drowned after jumping from the west side of the Overlander Bridge during the early evening of July 30.
Witnesses reported seeing the man briefly resurface before disappearing beneath the water. Despite immediate efforts to rescue him, those attempts were unsuccessful.
Emergency responders, including Kamloops RCMP, Kamloops Fire Rescue, and Search and Rescue, responded quickly to the scene, deploying both aerial and boat patrols in an effort to locate the man.
Search and Rescue crews resumed operations this morning in coordination with the RCMP.
While the man has been identified, authorities are not releasing his name at this time.
