Kamloops Throws Centre Athlete Ethan Katzberg has repeated as World Champion in the Men’s Hammer Throw today in Tokyo.
The 23 year-old Nanaimo native broke two records on his way to his second consecutive world title. His 2nd throw carried the distance of 84.70M to break both the World Championship record and his own previous Canadian record which stood at 84.38M
The championship record had stood for 18 years before Katzberg heaved the best throw of the 2025 season. Germany’s Merlin Hummel (82.77) won the silver medal while Hungary’s Bence Halasz (82.69) took bronze.
