Two men have been charged in connection with the 2021 homicide of Adam Hibbert, following an extensive investigation by Kamloops RCMP that spanned nearly four years.
On October 1, 2021, around 4:15 p.m., Kamloops frontline officers responded to a report of a suspicious fire near the shoreline at the entrance to the Kamloops landfill. Kamloops Fire Rescue had discovered a body at the scene, prompting an immediate and thorough police investigation. Since that time, investigators have worked diligently to gather evidence, follow up on leads, and build a case that has now resulted in second-degree murder charges against Tristan Bris Fernandez and Robert Lloyd Sedore. Fernandez is currently in custody on an unrelated matter. Sedore has been arrested and is also in custody.
“This was an extensive and complex investigation that required a high level of commitment, collaboration, and determination,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment. “Over the course of this investigation, our members worked tirelessly, often under challenging circumstances, to gather evidence, follow up investigative material, and ensure that every aspect of the case was thoroughly examined. Their dedication reflects the professionalism and perseverance of our investigators.”
Superintendent Pelley added, “While we cannot speak to the details as these matters are before the courts, I want to acknowledge the significant effort that has gone into bringing the investigation to this stage. The work of our investigators demonstrates our commitment to ensuring public safety, supporting victims and their families, and holding individuals accountable through the justice system.”
As the case proceeds through the court system, no further information will be released at this time.
