A string of early morning fires in Kamloops’ Sahali neighbourhood has sparked a police investigation, with authorities looking into whether the incidents are connected.
Kamloops RCMP and Kamloops Fire Rescue were called to multiple fire scenes starting around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Officers responded to the 1300-block of Summit Drive, where four separate fires were reported within a 20-minute window.
A few hours later, shortly after 7:00 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched again — this time to reports of additional fires near Grandview Terrace and Columbia Street.
Police say patrols were conducted in both instances. In the second case, a witness provided a suspect description, which led officers to arrest a man matching that information. However, due to a lack of sufficient evidence, the man was later released without charge pending further investigation.
“Fortunately, there was no significant damage as a result of these fires,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP. “Police are investigating to determine whether or not these fires are related.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be directed to the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000, referencing file numbers 2025-33257 and 2025-33264.
