Passenger traffic was down slightly at the Kamloops Airport in the third quarter of 2025 when compared to the same period in 2024.
YKA releasing its latest statistics which show that between July and September 2025, the airport welcomed 68,960 travelers, down 2.4% from 70,638 in Q3 of the previous year. Monthly breakdowns reveal that July experienced the largest decline at 5.6%, with 22,117 passengers compared to 23,374 in July 2024. August and September numbers held more steady, with only minor decreases of 0.6% and 1.2%, respectively.
Airport officials say the overall decline aligns with earlier forecasts that anticipated reduced passenger volumes in the first half of the year due to planned route frequency adjustments through June. Encouragingly, daily commercial flight activity rebounded close to last year’s levels in July, signaling a stabilizing trend.
“We are optimistic as we head into the fourth quarter,” said a spokesperson for Kamloops Airport. “The additional summer service to Edmonton by WestJet during July and August was a positive development, and we remain committed to collaborating with our airline partners to increase flight frequencies on existing routes.”
The airport is also actively exploring opportunities for sustainable new air service options to better serve the Kamloops region and support its growing travel demands.
As Kamloops Airport moves forward, it continues to focus on strengthening connectivity and providing reliable air service options for travelers throughout the remainder of 2025 and beyond.
