A routine patrol in Tk’emlúps led RCMP officers to seize firearms, drugs, and more than $15,000 in cash from a vehicle in a gas station parking lot.
On October 23, around 8:00 p.m., Tk’emlúps frontline officers were patrolling the 400-block of Paul Lake Road when they observed suspicious behaviour involving a rental vehicle. Police determined the driver was prohibited from operating a vehicle, prompting an arrest.
During the investigation, officers recovered three restricted firearms, several thousand grams of suspected illegal drugs, and over $15,000 in cash. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver was released pending charges under the Criminal Code, Firearms Act, and Motor Vehicle Act.
“Illegal firearms and illicit drugs in our communities remain a targeted concern,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment. “We continue to proactively target and disrupt those involved in the drug trade. This investigation immediately made our communities safer.”
The operation was supported by the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit as part of a coordinated effort between Tk’emlúps RCMP and surrounding jurisdictions. The investigation is ongoing.
