The City of Kamloops is gearing up to celebrate one of its most beloved holiday traditions — the 49th Annual Seniors’ Christmas Light Tour, happening Friday, December 12, 2025, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. This heartwarming event invites residents aged 55 and over to enjoy a free bus tour through some of the city’s brightest and most festive neighbourhoods.
This year’s route will take participants through Westsyde, where dazzling displays of holiday lights will help create a magical evening. After the tour, seniors will gather at the Sandman Centre for a community celebration featuring live entertainment by the Kamloops Rube Band and the Kamloops Pride Choir, along with hot beverages and seasonal treats.
While the City handles the planning, it’s the volunteers who truly make this event shine — and more helping hands are needed. Volunteers assist with bus pickups and drop-offs, ride along with participants, and help spread cheer throughout the evening. A volunteer orientation will take place Monday, December 9, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Kia Lounge in the Sandman Centre.
“We couldn’t do this without the dedication and kindness of our volunteers,” said City staff. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back and bring joy to local seniors during the holiday season.”
Residents and businesses along the Westsyde route are also encouraged to get involved by decorating their homes and storefronts. Even small light displays can help brighten the evening for participants and showcase the community’s holiday spirit.
