Kamloops Blazers forward JP Hurlbert has been named the Tempo WHL Player of the Week for the second time this season after a six-point performance over three games.
The 17-year-old from Allen, Texas, recorded four goals and two assists as Kamloops went 2-1-0-0. Hurlbert opened the week with two goals in a 5-4 OT win in Tri-City, added two assists in a 7-4 loss to Portland, and closed with another two-goal effort in a 4-2 victory over Wenatchee.
Hurlbert now leads the WHL scoring race with 44 points (18G–26A) in 25 games and is tied for the league lead in goals. An ‘A’-rated prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft, he was originally selected 20th overall by Kamloops in the 2023 WHL U.S. Priority Draft.
The Blazers (11-10-2-2) sit third in the B.C. Division. Hurlbert will represent Team CHL at the 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge this week in Calgary and Lethbridge.
