A beloved holiday tradition is getting a new home this year. Santa’s Village, presented annually by Mobile Entertainment Kamloops, opens this Saturday at its new location at 250 Victoria Street in the heart of downtown.
The seasonal attraction, which typically runs from late November through Christmas Eve, has become a community favourite for its intricate 1/12-scale replica of the North Pole—a highly detailed miniature world complete with more than ten tiny buildings, bustling elf workshops, reindeer scenes, and whimsical moments from Santa’s day-to-day preparations.
This year marks the first time the Village sets up downtown after several seasons at Sahali Mall and earlier years in Maple Ridge.
“We’ve been doing this for seven years,” said co-organizer Tracy Taylor. “We started out in Maple Ridge and we’ve done it out of our home and we’ve done it out of the mall. And now we’re here downtown.”
A Choose-Your-Experience Holiday Outing
Visitors can choose between simply viewing the miniature village or opting for the full experience, which remains one of the event’s biggest draws.
“The experience includes a walkthrough of the one-of-a-kind North Pole replica village, a stuffy for each of the kids, and pictures with Santa on a USB—usually around five to eight different pictures,” said Don Taylor. “And all that for 30 bucks for one family. You can’t beat it.” And Santa—real deal. “Real boots, real belt, real beard, real deal.”
For those who prefer to browse the tiny buildings and festive scenes without photos, admission is $5 per person for village viewing only.
Hours and Dates
The Village will be open weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m., running right up until December 24.
Weekday viewings outside posted hours are often available by appointment, with full scheduling updates typically posted through the organizers’ social media channels.
For Families, Couples, and Even Pets
While Santa’s Village is a hit among young families, Tracy emphasizes that the event is designed for everyone.
“This village is great for all ages,” she said. “You can bring your kids, bring your parents, bring your grandparents. You can bring a date, and you can always bring your pets.”
With its new downtown presence, organizers are hoping even more residents and visitors will discover the charm, craftsmanship, and holiday spirit behind Kamloops’ miniature North Pole.
