Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of stealing roughly $800 worth of liquor from the BC Liquor Store on Garcia Street earlier this month.
According to Merritt RCMP, the theft occurred around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the store located at 104-1700 Garcia Street. The suspect—described as an unknown male—was wearing a red and black baseball cap, a black-and-tan rain jacket, and black jeans. Police say the hat was a Cummins brand cap with a white “C” on the front.
Officers responded quickly and searched the surrounding neighbourhood, but were unable to locate anyone matching the description. Police also canvassed nearby businesses and residents, but no additional information or leads were found.
The man is further described as approximately 5’9″ tall.
“The Merritt RCMP take calls for service from our businesses here in town very seriously,” said Cst. Blake Chursinoff. “Unfortunately, all investigational leads to identify the male have not produced results, and we are now asking the public to assist us in identifying this male so that he can be arrested and brought before the courts.”

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the theft is asked to contact Merritt RCMP.
