Mounties are investigating the death of a woman in Merritt, which they say is suspicious.

RCMP said officers were called Saturday, December 20 to assist paramedics responding to a report of a woman in medical distress.

The woman, who was in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by emergency responders.

Police have not released details about her injuries or the circumstances surrounding her death, but say foul play is suspected. Major crime investigators have taken over the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
