Kamloops Centre MLA and B.C. Conservative leadership hopeful Peter Milobar has received a major boost, with five sitting MLAs publicly endorsing his bid to lead the party.
On the steps of the B.C. Legislature Wednesday morning, MLAs Gavin Dew (Kelowna-Mission), Brennan Day (Courtenay-Comox), Ward Stamer (Kamloops-North Thompson), Scott McInnis (Columbia River-Revelstoke), and Kiel Giddens (Prince George-Mackenzie) stood together to back Milobar, calling him a steady, proven leader ready to take the party forward.
“Peter brings people together across the party and across the province,” said Giddens, the party’s Labour Critic. “His leadership is about clarity, purpose, and building a team that’s ready to govern.”
McInnis highlighted Milobar’s focus on the economy. “Peter knows the issues families and businesses are facing, and he has the practical ideas to get our economy moving again.”
Dew emphasized stability and certainty. “British Columbians want a government that understands how to grow the economy and attract investment. Peter is the leader who can create those conditions.”
Stamer noted Milobar’s decades of public service in Kamloops. “Peter has spent years delivering for families and businesses, listening carefully, and standing up for his community. That’s the kind of leadership our province needs.”
Milobar thanked his colleagues, describing the endorsements as a sign of growing momentum within caucus and across B.C.
“We need to be ready to govern on Day One,” Milobar said. “Together, we’re building a movement that can win and lead.”
The B.C. Conservative leadership race is underway, with eleven candidates being vetted and voting scheduled for the leadership convention on May 30. With five MLAs now publicly backing him, Milobar’s campaign is gaining both institutional and grassroots support.
