Residents of Clearwater now have access to a state-of-the-art meeting room at their local library, featuring wireless technology that makes video calls, presentations, and hybrid meetings simpler than ever.
The new setup, called QuickShare, includes a large screen TV and a wireless system that allows users to connect their laptops without cables or complicated setup. With the push of a small USB button, attendees can instantly share presentations, join Zoom meetings, or watch events together.
“Due to the generosity of a local donor in 2025, we were able to kickstart this technology improvement project,” said Melissa Lowenberg, Manager of Community Libraries and Engagement. “It’s exciting to provide residents with a space that makes collaboration and connection easier, especially in a smaller community like Clearwater.”
Kathy Boulega, Temporary Branch Head at Clearwater Library, explained how the technology can be used: “What we’re talking about is a large screen TV. It’s just wireless meeting room technology. Users can have Zoom meetings with people in the community or elsewhere, share information, or even do a PowerPoint presentation directly from their laptop. It gives groups a lot more flexibility.”
The demand has already been strong. According to Boulega, the library received bookings for the next three months shortly after announcing the upgrade. Local groups that previously met elsewhere are now excited to use the room, allowing members to join remotely from home.
Booking the meeting room is free and can be done online at tnrl.ca or by contacting the library directly at 250-674-2543. Users can also reserve the space in person.
The new technology has already seen creative uses, such as an in-library Olympic watch party. Boulega highlighted the room’s versatility: “Residents could book the room for a telehealth meeting, a family meetup, or non-profit organization meetings that allow online access for all members. Bring your laptop, plug in the USB button, connect to our free WiFi, and you’re ready to go.”
While the library continues to wrap up other renovation projects like landscaping, the meeting room is now fully operational, marking an exciting step in enhancing local community resources.
