A police vehicle was damaged early Monday morning after being rammed by a suspect driving a stolen truck and travel trailer, following a break and enter in Savona.
Frontline officers with the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP responded around 4:16 a.m. to reports of a break-in at a storage compound in Savona, where a travel trailer had been hitched to a truck and stolen.
Police later located the suspect vehicle in Kamloops and attempted a traffic stop. According to RCMP, the driver allegedly rammed a police cruiser while trying to flee the scene.
“The officer was not injured, but the police vehicle sustained damage,” said Cpl. Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.
The suspect vehicle continued before crashing into a fence, causing additional property damage. The incident prompted a temporary closure of Pacific Way south of Hugh Allen Drive, which remained shut down for about an hour Monday morning as officers investigated.
