The City of Kamloops is asking residents, businesses, and community groups to help guide the future of the downtown core through a new public engagement initiative.
“Reimagine Downtown!” aims to gather input on how streets, public spaces, and key areas can better support community life and economic activity.
The initiative builds on several existing plans, including the city’s Downtown Plan, Official Community Plan, and recent transportation and cultural strategies, as well as major projects under the Build Kamloops program.
City officials say feedback will help shape a future revitalization plan focused on improving pedestrian spaces, supporting local businesses, enhancing transportation options, and creating more vibrant public areas.
Residents can take part in two in-person sessions — May 4 at the Delta Hotel and May 9 at the Kamloops Farmer’s Market — or contribute online from May 4 to 24 through a survey and interactive mapping tool.
The city says public input will play a key role in identifying priorities, with a draft revitalization plan expected after a second round of engagement in spring 2027.
