A pair of Kamloops Blazers alumni have won a Slovakian Extraliga hockey title.
Goaltender Dylan Ferguson (2015-2019) backstopped HK Nitra to the championship win over Slovan Bratislava in a dramatic seven-game final. The 27 year-old Ferguson was in his first year with the team after spending most of the last six seasons playing professional hockey in North America. That included a short stint with the Ottawa Senators (2022-23) and an appearance with the Vegas Golden Knights in an emergency call-up basis in 2017.
During the regular season, Ferguson posted a 2.87 GAA with a .903 save % while going 12-7. He saved his best for the playoffs posting a 6-4 record with 2.49 GAA and .925 save %
The 25 year-old Marko Stacha – a Slovak native – was in his 4th season with HK Nitra after completing his WHL career with the Blazers in 2021-22. During the regular season with HK Nitra, Stacha put up six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 52 games. The steady defensive defenseman appeared in 19 playoff games collecting one goal and four assits.
