It’s a frisbee toss across the Atlantic.
19 year-old Kamloops Ultimate Frisbee player Gage Androlick is preparing for a trip to Logrono, Spain in July after making Canada’s Ultimate U20 team – the only BC resident to get the call.
“I was like… beyond happy, ecstatic,” said Gage on hearing word he made Team Canada after a lengthy tryout process.
Androlick is a busy guy – working two jobs while trying to practice as much as he can. He says the sport has become a healthy addiction.
“I can’t stop playing. It makes me want to get better, I just love it so much,” Gage told Radio NL’s Jon Keen.
“In soccer you’re stuck to one position. Where in (ultimate frisbee) you can do it all. I can score, I can jump and defend, I can run all over the field, and make plays.”
The trip to Spain will come quickly – July 11th to 18th.
Androlick and his family have started a fundraising page to try and help with costs of not only making the Canadian roster but the trip to the World Championships.
“You can follow along in the process. Lots of generous people have been donating and it just helps me so much,” continued Gage.
The GoFundMe page is at about $3,000 has been raised of the $10,000 goal.
“It’s all I’ve been thinking about honestly. I can’t wait to try and help Canada win a World title.”
