
Kamloops RCMP are investigating an assault reported at the Lansdowne Bus Exchange that has raised concerns in the community.
According to police, the incident occurred between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5. RCMP say the assault was reported later that day, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
While police have released few details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the attack, Radio NL has received reports indicating a 75-year-old man suffered a fractured jaw and required surgery following the incident.
RCMP have not confirmed those details.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous man with a fit build, standing approximately five-foot-eight. He was reportedly wearing a T-shirt and jeans at the time of the assault.
No suspect image has been released.
In a statement to Radio NL, Staff Sergeant Darren Durnin said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Police have not said whether the victim and suspect were known to one another or what may have led to the assault.

Below is surveillance footage provided to Radio NL that appears to show the suspect running behind a bus at the Lansdowne Bus Exchange, where the assault is alleged to have occurred, before running back toward 6th Avenue moments later. RCMP have not yet released any official surveillance images and have not confirmed whether the individual seen in the video is the suspect described by investigators.
