Rose Hill Disc Golf Course
Kamloops turns into disc golf hub this weekend with the fifth consecutive Tournament Capital Open.
“We’ll have 200 competitors both locally and from across Western Canada. There’s also some touring pros making their way from Oregon,” said Tournament Director Carrie Neal.
Both the Rose Hill and MacArthur Island disc golf courses will be in play for rounds Friday through Sunday. Spectators are welcome.
Neal says the sport is vibrant and alive in Kamloops.
“We have a very active community of players in Kamloops, the parks are packed daily,” continued Neal.
The local Kamloops Disc Golf Club with the blessing from the City of Kamloops have also taken it a step further.
“We’ve bid on the 2028 Canadian National Disc Golf Championships… the City has been are largest ally in this. They believe in the sport,” raved Neal.
Neal says the sport continues to grow because of it’s vibe.
“I’d say the sport’s vibe is inclusivity. We have different players from all sorts of backgrounds, jobs… but when you’re out there, you’re just playing disc golf.”
