Due to a scheduling change, Logan Stankoven’s Day with the Stanley Cup in Kamloops has been pushed back by a few days.
His time — and Kamloops’ time to honor his achievements — will now be on a Sunday, August 16th.
The original date was on Thursday, August 13th, but the Cup is planning to make a short detour ahead of the Kamloops leg of it’s journey.
Details of a City-organized public event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
A planning committee involving the Stankoven family and the City, among others, continues to put together the day, with collaboration said to be taking place on an almost daily basis.
Stankoven’s 11 goals in the playoffs led the Hurricanes in their march to Lord Stanley.
It’ll be the first time a player from Kamloops will bring the Cup back to their hometown since Mark Recchi hosted it on August 12th, 2011 as a member of the Cup-winning Penguins team that year.
