Its an effort by the city of Kamloops to educate people about the environment.
Sustainability Manager Glen Cheetham told council of the plans to establish what is called the carbon park project at West Highlands Park so people can learn how forests contribute to climate change.
“By implementing strategies that reduce our impact on the environment and by creating a destination that engages visitors on how the urban forest, urban agriculture, and urban development are inter-connected, and how they contribute to climate change, air quality, wildlife habitat, energy conservation and quality of life.”
Cheetham says among the measures the planting of 40 new trees the construction of an open air classroom or amphitheater that can seat 25 people and a community garden.
