Gas prices in Kamloops are taking a big jump just before the long weekend.
Some stations are selling regular for $1.46.9, a jump of 11 cents.
“It’s a reality of what I call “gas bar shenanigans” here in Kamloops.”
The Senior Analyst with GasBuddy.com, Dan McTeague says gas retailers in Kamloops are trying to make some money.
“It costs gas stations about a buck 33 to buy their fuel today. So if you’re selling for a buck 33, you’d better be selling a lot of potato chips to go with it because you can’t make any money selling gasoline and pay for you know, 3 cents on the dollar for credit card charges, honouring loyalty programs, much less pay for the electricity to turn on your pumps. So that’s why we’re seeing this spike.”
As for when the prices will come down?
“Don’t worry, by the weekend, it’ll be right back down to mid- dollar thirties.”
