A third-party is investigating the situation of a suspended TRU teacher.
Professor Derek Pyne was suspended without pay in July relating to a paper he wrote in April 2017.
The Canadian Association of University Teachers is now looking into allegations that Professor Derek Pyne had his academic freedom violated.
The association’s executive director David Robinson says Pyne reached out to them after he was suspended, and they’ve reviewed material since then.
“We’ve now launched a full investigation into the matter to see if the allegations are true. If they are true, it’s quite a serious case for us,” Robinson says.
The paper Pyne wrote looked into the use “deceptive journals” by some TRU colleagues, and he alleges he was targeted by the faculty after the paper was published.
