The city of Kamloops has been named in a lawsuit filed over the reconstruction of the Westsyde Pool.
In a writ filed in BC Supreme Court, D and T Developments is suing the city, Read Jones Christoffersen LTD, and Anvil Ironworks.
That’s after it was discovered that the wrong kind of steel decking was installed on the top the building, and then had to be replaced.
City of Kamloops Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell feels the city did everything correctly.
“There is a claim against the city alleging design was not complete, and there were unreasonable timelines to resolve certain issues during the project,” he said.
None of the allegations, involving a breach of trust and negligent misrepresentation, have been proven in court.
“Even after our issues, it’s not going to be the city responsible for those,” Crundwell added. “We’re hopeful it’ll get settled without any additional financial participation by the City of Kamloops.”
