The United Steelworkers Union has now started rotating strikes in the Kamloops area in a contract dispute with interior Forest Labour Relations.
Spokesman Bob Matters says the union has chosen to hit Interior operations in Grand Forks and Castlegar.
However, he wouldn’t rule out shutting down Tolko Industries in Kamloops
“When you are dealing with multiple employers, the intention is to single them out and put as much pressure as we can on the different employers,” she said. “Doing it this way, we are going to have more of an impact, so our employers will be feeling some pain when they least expect it.”
The union represents more than 3,000 workers in the Southern Interior.
“if that doesn’t get our issues added, we will up the ante and increase pressure, until the final straw,” Matters added. “Which is the entire interior BC on strike.”
