The TRU Faculty Association is worried about the future of staff members teaching at the Williams Lake Campus.
President Tom Friedman calls it a crisis since of the 45 staff members in the Cariboo, just 11 have regular full-time employment status.
“75 per cent of our faculty in Williams Lake don’t have secure employment and that doesn’t build strong programs,” he said. “We need to have people hired into secure positions where they know they can start building their programs and meeting the needs of that community.
“There is considerable need not just in Williams Lake itself, but the whole region.”
Friedman says the union intends to raise the issue during the next round of bargaining.
