The snow might be missing, but the KCBIA is still hoping to kick off winter in style.
The Welcome Winter Block Party will take over Victoria Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenue on December 8.
KCBIA Executive Director Carl DeSantis says it’ll be a day of celebration.
“If you can think back to summer, we did a back alley block party and it’s going to be very similar to that with a slight change in the temperature,” DeSantis said. “But we’re not worried about the weather.”
“We encourage winter celebrations right now, and there’s going to be firepits set up along Victoria Street for people to warm up, an assortment of beverages and activities, including street hockey.”
He adds they got feedback at the first Winter Block party last year, and made some changes for this year.
“We’re introducing some new things which will be really good for people,” he added. “With the events and music, we’re going to be offering, a lot of things will be similar.”
“But you know what’ll be really really fun is getting the people together and watching how everybody celebrates some time outside when they’re downtown. It’s just so much fun.”
DeSantis is most excited for street hockey and noted the biggest feedback they got was to bring the event back this year.
