A Kamloops lawyer is one of those in B.C. that has spearheaded the resurrection of a provincial group to help fight for more legal aid dollars.
Legal aid Lawyers in B.C. are forming their own association, after the last one disbanded in the early 1990’s.
Kamloops Lawyer Graham Kay says it was nearly 30 years ago that legal aid lawyers received a pay increase.
Kay says there is no end to the number of issues that the BC government has to deal with.
“We are moving forward looking at access to justice issues and looking at raising these issues with the B-C government and the Legal Services Society,” said Kay.
About 450 members have signed up, according to Kay, who says they formed the society in September.
