Sun Peaks is continuing to look for ways to expand its health services with the municipality’s health center now more than a year old.
Mayor Al Raine says the health center has been in high demand since it opened last December.
“I think we have over 1,500 people who are registered at the health center, that list is growing every day,” Raine says. “It’s been a great contributor, especially for the young families. But even for the older citizens of Sun Peaks who have been looking for healthcare in Sun Peaks.”
He adds the clinic is one of several new healthcare initiatives the municipality has brought in recently.
“We now have a second doctor who on a part-time basis has joined the practice. We’re providing mental health services through the province, so we really have expanded the services.”
Raine says going forward he’d like to add more diagnostic equipment to the clinic.
