A new date has been picked for the postponed BC review hearing for Merritt child killer Allan Schoenborn.
That hearing is set for Jan 10 at 9:00 AM at the Forensic Psychiatric Institute in Coquitlam.
Dave Teixeira, who speaks for the family of Darcy Clarke, says he’s not sure what additional freedoms Schoenborn is looking for, but they will be at the hearing.
“He always asks to get out, that we know for sure,” said Teixeira. “In past years, he’s asked to be relocated to Winnipeg, to be allowed out to go shopping, a whole bunch of things.”
“We’re not sure what he’s going to ask for but until he’s handled his anger management until he gets over his violent iterations, he needs to remain in the hospital and get the help he needs and deserves.”
Teixeira adds they will be opposing any further freedoms that Schoenborn asks for.
“Over the 10 years he’s been in custody, he’s refused treatment, he’s not getting better, he’s had over a hundred violent episodes while in custody,” he said.
“There’s absolutely no reason to allow him to get out into our community where he can harm more people. There hopefully will be a day when Allan is rehabilitated but that day is not now.”
Teixeira says Schoenborn’s legal team has a habit of rescheduling these hearings, in an attempt to antagonize the Clarke family.
