This year’s Wildlights display at the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops is on pace to be the best in nearly a decade.
The park’s general manager Glen Grant says so far more than 15,000 people have come to Wildlights and could surpass 18,000.
Speaking on the NL Morning Show, Grant says that will go a long way for the park’s finances.
“Every person who comes to the park is worth about $10 dollars in revenue. So $180,000 dollars in revenue goes a long way in paying all the bills in January and February when we’re closed. Basically we don’t generate that much revenue until we open up for spring break again.”
Grant adds good weather is most of the reason for the strong turnout, but he notes there are others.
“Our staff really did a great job this year of getting the show brighter, and more lights. Just the way it was displayed and set up; music throughout the whole park as you’re going around, Uncle Chris [the Clown] has a new area that the kids are absolutely loving.”
The Wildights exhibit began on Dec. 14 and runs until Sunday.
