The recent proportional representation referendum has impacted the leadership race for the BC Conservative Party.
Deputy leader Justin Greenwood says the party had to move the deadline to submit application packages for potential leadership candidates due to the electoral reform vote.
“We have our leadership convention early March in Victoria. There will be a couple months there. We have been open since the end of October. Like I said the majority of people who were interested in running were honestly waiting to see if PR passed. That is unfortunate but just the way it was. We have a few candidates on the go getting their packages ready and we will see how it turns out.”
Greenwood says leaderships candidates have to declare by January 8th.
The party has been leaderless since 2016 when after years of troubles and infighting the party ousted then leader Dan Brooks.
