Kamloops Search and Rescue has begun searching for a new permanent facility.
Spokesperson Jenn Stahn says KSAR has been using city space on Mission Flats Road, but is outgrowing its current hall.
“We appreciate them working with us, but we’ve always known that it was a temporary location. So we’re looking for something a little bit more permanent now. We’ve been looking at a couple different possibilities and working with a couple different groups, so we’re positive that we’ll see something come to fruition in 2019.”
She says the team is up to 47 members and has a lot of gear which makes the current space cramped.
Stahn adds that KSAR currently does most of its training away from its hall due to a lack of space, which she hopes can change this year.
“It all starts to add up,” Stahn says. “So we’re definitely looking for something a little bit bigger that will allow us to get everyone and everything in, and get the training in that need, utilizing that space.”
