The BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops says profits from a record 2018 will help the bottom line.
General manager Glen Grant says that surplus is a result of the nearly 105,000 people who have visited the park this fiscal year.
“That’s a difference of just shy of $100,000 dollars in net revenue coming in the admission side. With that, we had a large loss last year, we lost about $50,000 dollars. So this is great in that we can recover the money that we had a shortfall of last year,” Grant says.
“And it’ll also give us a little bit of a surplus. Some of the money will go into a reserve fund for another rainy day. Because we know that we set a record this year doesn’t mean that, we will set the bar high but we won’t keep setting records every year. So it’ll help with the shortfalls that may or may not come next year.”
He adds some nice-to-do projects could happen this year as well.
