After two days of meetings over the city’s strategic plan City of Kamloops staff are now working on the finite details of the latest proposed downtown performing arts centre and how it fits within the vision.
Councillor Kathy Sinclair says it was determined mayor and council need much more information on the facility before charting a path forward.
“We do need to see a business case. We need to see not only how are we going to raise that $70 million? What is this going to look like? Who is going to operate the facility? Is it going to be financially viable over a period of years? We cannot make any decisions without that detailed information. That is crucial for the next step for sure.”
Sinclair says once more information is tabled before council by city staff she says the picture will become much clearer as will the timeline of the process ahead.
She says while for her it is not a case of downtown or bust for a location the downtown core is by far the preferred site for the performing arts centre.
