A Canadian actress who the Kamloops RCMP say is missing has taken to social media to tell her side of the story.
In a Facebook post, Roseanne Supernault says she and her nephew, Nikaeo – are safe.
Supernault says she was not been watching her nephew, she has in fact been raising him for the last seven months and can prove it.
She went on to say the pair went into hiding after Nikaeo confided “seriously distressing allegations.”
“Over the holidays my nephew and I were visiting his Mother and her in-laws in Kamloops,” she wrote. “And each day the environment became more hostile.”
“I was in a constant state of vigilance as I protected my nephew from various forms of abuse. I myself even felt abused in this environment and it was nothing compared to the violence inflicted upon my nephew.”
In a statement, the RCMP confirm they made contact on January 16, with someone who they believe to be Roseanne Supernault and Nikaeo Supernault.
Staff Sgt. Victor Steinhammer though says that until they can find and confirm that Nikaeo is safe, the pair will be listed as “missing”
Supernault is urging that the mounties investigate the allegations made by her nephew.
“I have made contact with the RCMP and we have given them our side of the statement,” Supernault wrote. “I want to thank the Kamloops RCMP for their attentiveness to this case and their support.”
Back on January 15, police issued a “request to locate” saying the pair had not been in contact with Nikaeo’s mother since January 13.
They wanted Roseanne Supernault to contact either the RCMP or Nikaeo’s mother “to discuss the situation.”
