In the aftermath of the decision to scrap the BC Lottery Corporation headquarters project, B.C.’s Attorney General says the existing building will see upgrades and new staff.
Dave Eby says all expansion of BCLC staff will stay within the Kamloops headquarters within the capacity of the existing structure.
Eby says while renovations and improvements do need to be made, especially to the data center governing things like online gaming, it too is staying put.
“Which would remain in Kamloops and would be duplicated for safety to make sure that in the event of a catastrophic failure at one site that there will be redundancy so that the sites wouldn’t go down. That’s something that doesn’t currently exist. And in addition, there’s the need for expanded warehouse space so that BCLC in Kamloops can continue to distribute gaming equipment and materials and so on, out of Kamloops.”
Eby didn’t specify where the back up data centre would be located.
And while he also didn’t specify how much the improvements would cost, he insisted they would happen.
