The Canadian Taxpayers Federation knows what it wants to see in an audit to clean up legislature after the Plecas report unveiled lavish spending.
BC Director Kris Sims is all for the audit but she is totally opposed to it being done by one of the usual suspects on the B.C. political scene.
“We want somebody from completely outside,” she said. “We ideally want somebody who has never darkened the door of the Victoria legislature.”
“We want somebody the calibre of Sheila Fraser the former federal Auditor General or Bonnie Lysyk who worked both in Manitoba and blew a lot of whistles in Ontario.”
Sims added that there needs to be confidence in the system and that confidence would only be achieved by a well-known auditor from outside the province that people can trust to come in and put everything under the microscope.
She says all legislative staff need to be transparent will all expenses by posting itemized receipts online.
