A tourism committee in the Fraser-Nicola says a full-service hotel in Ashcroft would be a “game-changer.”

TNRD Area I director and chair of the Gold Country Communities Society Steve Rice says a new full-service hotel in the area would help address a need.

“We don’t have jobs basically that pay a wage where young people who want to move in and have that healthy lifestyle, have that adventure outdoor lifestyle, they don’t have the jobs waiting for them, that they can take a buy a home, have babies, fill schools, keep hospitals open regular hours,” Rice says.

The Village of Ashcroft had a study done that says it could support a new hotel with up to 64 rooms and the village now plans to seek interest from developers.
