A home in Rayleigh is a complete loss after an early morning house fire.
Fire crews responded to the blaze on Sabiston Court just before 9 a.m., and the home was fully involved in flames when crews arrived on scene.
An owner of the home on Sabiston Court says his wife was the only person inside at the time, and says she was able to get out within seconds.
Kamloops Fire Rescue platoon captain Wade Lindoff says the cause of the isn’t yet known.
“We have reports that it started in a bedroom, but unconfirmed at this point. We have our fire investigators on scene right now and they’re going to begin their investigation.”
Smoke was visible from several kilometers away; Lindoff says crews were fortunate to contain the fire to the single home.
“In these areas out here the lots are a bigger size, so there is a little more space between the buildings. So we’re fortunate that it did involve only one home.”
