The recent cold snap is a good time to make sure your house is properly insulated.
Fortis BC Spokesperson Nicole Brown says that’s as both natural gas and hydro use will be on the rise.
“I mean it’s going to be pretty obvious where you’re getting drafts, and all of those drafts is your home losing heat, and that’s heat that you pay for,” she said. “It’s a good opportunity to see where you’re losing heat.”
Brown says people can borrow thermal cameras from the Thompson Nicola Regional Library to look for cold spots in their homes.
“If you own your own home, you can build that into your reno plan,” Brown added. “If you’re a renter or have a slightly lower income, we also have programs to help your draft proof your home.”
Natural gas supply in the province ss “normal” after the pipeline explosion near Prince Geroge last October.
