Another blast of extreme cold air is moving into the Kamloops area.
Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the North Thompson, where temperatures will plummit to nearly minus-30 overnight tonight.
Forecaster Matt McDonald says that warning will affect Clearwater and places north.
“With those moderate winds we’ll be feeling wind chill values closer to minus 36. So in those types of conditions we’re talking about just a matter of minutes to see frostbite, a little bit longer can result in hypothermia. So just a reminder to people really reduce your exposure outside and dress really warmly if you are headed outside.”
McDonald says Kamloops will feel some of that cold blast.
“We’re looking at an overnight low of minus 13, but the windchill’s not going to quite make that ‘warning’ threshold, but still really cold with windchill values down near minus 26.
McDonald says temperatures will rise slightly during the day tomorrow which should reduce the risks from the extreme cold.
